WTIC

Hartford, Connecticut
1080 kHz (AM)
50 kW (unlimited)
Directional antenna at night

Monitored on the Global Tuners receiver in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Québec
at 2305 (UTC) = 7:05 PM (Eastern)
Friday, October 7, 2011 (Eastern)
SINPO:  54455

I tuned into a very strong transmission of WTIC with a time check from Bill Pierce, station ID, traffic report for East Hartford and environs, a brief sports report, and a weather forecast with "summer-like conditions" read by Steve Chapron.  The "Clark Howard Show" followed with a discussion of innovative technologies in America, such as iPhones, Android phones, and the cellular networks.

Though the signal was strong, there was noticeable interference in the background (but mostly drowned out) with minor noise, but no fading.

A short clip of the transmission with station ID can be accessed here.
(May need to increase the volume control on your computer.)

The station’s web site is linked here.

Here is a virtual screenshot of the receiver (actually an ICOM PCR-1000
with a Wellbrook ALA 1530 antenna aimed southward)
from Global Tuners (click to enlarge):

Here is a map showing the distance from transmitter to receiver (click to enlarge):

I sent a request for a QSL via U.S. mail on October 11, 2011.
I will post it here as soon as it arrives.
