This frequency at this time had at least four stations competing for my attention. CFCB was underneath the stronger WMCA, a religious station in Kearny, New Jersey; a weak and occasional signal from WSYR, a news station in Syracuse, New York; and Radio Reloj in Santa Clara, Cuba, with tick-tocks every second and "RR" in Morse Code every minute.
Still, CFCB edged through at 0512 UTC (equating to 2:42 AM in Newfoundland), with a station ID by a male announcer, and again another ID "570 CFCB", followed by the song "Horsehoes" by Adam Gregory. The signal remained behind WMCA and faded considerably, but any time a country song played, I knew I was receiving CFCB.
