CFCB

Corner Brook, Newfoundland
570 kHz (AM)
1 kW (unlimited)
Non-directional antenna

Monitored on the Global Tuners receiver in Boutiliers Point, Nova Scotia
at 0512 (UTC) = 2:42 AM (Newfoundland time)
Friday, September 30, 2011 (Newfoundland time)
SINPO:  22322

This frequency at this time had at least four stations competing for my attention.  CFCB was underneath the stronger WMCA, a religious station in Kearny, New Jersey; a weak and occasional signal from WSYR, a news station in Syracuse, New York; and Radio Reloj in Santa Clara, Cuba, with tick-tocks every second and "RR" in Morse Code every minute.

Still, CFCB edged through at 0512 UTC (equating to 2:42 AM in Newfoundland), with a station ID by a male announcer, and again another ID "570 CFCB", followed by the song "Horsehoes" by Adam Gregory.  The signal remained behind WMCA and faded considerably, but any time a country song played, I knew I was receiving CFCB.

A short clip of the transmission with station ID can be accessed here.

A longer clip with all of the above-listed stations fading in and out can be accessed here.
(May need to increase the volume control on your computer in either case.)

The station’s web site is linked here.

Here is a virtual screenshot of the receiver (actually an ICOM PCR-1000
with a loop antenna aimed for NE/SW signals -- see signal path below)

I sent a request for a QSL via U.S. mail on October 3, 2011.
I will post it here as soon as it arrives.
