I tuned in to KKOB to a discussion by Lamont Wood of futuristic images (flying saucers and spaceships) in medieval artwork, including mention of Occam's Razor and Byzantine traditions, from his book Out of Place in Time and Space. "Coast to Coast AM.com" for mobile phones was mentioned next, followed by a musical interlude. A station ID "Talk Monster, 770 KKOB" was announced. Gary Garrison read the local news and weather in Albuquerque, and then another station ID. An advertisement for Auto Assure came next.
The signal was relatively strong, with a Mexican station heard in the background and a fair amount of hiss or "white noise". The signal did not fade at all.
Here is a virtual screenshot of the receiver (actually an ICOM PCR-1000
with a discone antenna) from Global Tuners (click to enlarge):

I sent a request for a QSL via U.S. mail on October 11, 2011.
I will post it here as soon as it arrives.
